Running Blogsphere 2 Beta1

Just upgraded to the latest
Blogsphere template
.  One
of the main features is the integration of the Open Notes Picture Database
into blogsphere.  I will be messing around with it a bit and adding
in a few snaps..

Update..  A few issues with importing
pictures.  EZ Thumbnail and Imagemagick are both installed but not
being detected.  Will investigate and post.

I got this link to the Microsoft
partner readiness program
today
from

Ed’s site
.     I see
that they are offering 2 day tutorials for $175.00 for partners in the
US.  The agenda for the session is not really worth commenting on,
but I would love to get my  hands on any documentation they give out
during the event.  I can guarantee that would be worth commenting
on.  Any chance that some of the bloggers could don a fake nose and
glasses and attend? (possibly to give the instructor the worst two days
of his/her life!).   Of course you would need to be in a company that
has MS partnership status.

Only got around to installing
skype
today and am looking forward to using it in the future.  The interface
looks good so I am hoping to get talking with some people over the next
few weeks.  My skype address is
pmooney.net
and there will be a skype link below soon.  Anyone any recommendations
on a good headset to get for this.  My old set is just that… very
old so I am looking for a good purchase.  Skype seems to have a partnership
with
Plantronics
but I have no experience with this brand.
Amazon
has a Logitech
kit
but I was hoping that
someone could provide guidance??

Following
Ed’s
posting
today, I decided to take
a look at the current stats for browser hits to my site.  At this
point, the stats are as follows:

1.Internet Explorer 6.x

59.5 %

2.Mozilla Firefox 1.x

25.3 %

3.Internet Explorer 4.x

5.1 %

4.Mozilla Firefox

2.5 %

5.Internet Explorer 5.x

2.5 %

6.Safari 1.x

2.5 %

7.Netscape 3.x

1.3 %

8.Opera 7.x

1.3 %

Total

100.0 %

I hope to revisit this every couple of weeks and see how the trend goes
but there are two shocks there already.  The minor shock is that Firefox
is growing in its followers, that has to be expected over the next few
months.  The major shock is how IE in total is falling!.

In addition, I access my DWA (iNotes) mail from IE by
habbit.  That has stopped as of today and I am viewing it in Firefox
only.  With the ND7 template, it seems to work fine so far but I will
keep at it and see what works and what doesn’t.  It seems the drag
and drop attachments isnt working but it could be my activeX settings.
Numerous customers of mine use DWA with IE at present.  I don’t think
it would kill them to move off to Firefox either…….

link issues… please be patient

As said before, I host from home.  My
1/2 mb DSL link from Irish Broadband is playing up.  Last upload/download
test I did rated it at 64kbs so the site is running dog slow.   Please
be patient.. normal abnormal services will resume shortly….

Running an advanced admin training course
at the moment, I came across this issue.  If you have deployed policies
in your domain (as you should) and you run nlnotes.exe on the server to
resolve an issue (as you should Not), your policies magically disappear…

The issue is Opened SPRed @IBM support.
PFOI667J42 – "Server policies are deleted when a user logs in with
the Server’s nlnotes.exe".

The nlnotes.exe on the server was the
handy "back door" for many years.  Nowadays, with Full Access
Administration available, there is no need to run this program anymore
as you can bypass ACL’s if you are in a pinch.  In fact, in some sites,
I am now removing the nlnotes.exe from the servers to prevent local admins
loading it.  This bug above reinforces my recommendations to administrators.
 Don’t use this file anymore!

I mentioned this
excellent product
after Admin2004
last year.  If you want the ability to manage your AD servers, print
servers and domino servers remotely from your blackberry, this tool is
class.  We demonstrated this to a customer a few days ago and it really
impressed.  From this tool, you can conduct any basic server management
that you may need to do remotely in a pinch.  Take a look.

I know I asked this some time ago, but
I would like to measure the RSS hits to this site.  I find that more
often then not, I read via RSS and very little else, and wondered how many
RSS readers hit this site per day.  Is there any utility that will
integrate with the blogsphere template that can do this?
