Thunderbirds are go with ND7

Mozilla Thunderbird has been tested
with Domino 7 by Lotus Support and no substancial issues have been found.
This could mean support for Thunderbird with ND7, which will keep
more Linux users happy.

Anyone else being Trackback Spammed to hell at the minute?

Since Friday, I have had 50 Trackbacks
submitted for the usual "tasteful" sites.  This is new to
me (maybe not to the guys that have been around the block more).  No
offence to the older guys!

Photos of the User Group day (and night… and following day)

Check out the most politically correct T-Shirt of all time from the only
person that I figured would wear it.  See if you can guess who it
was (head not included)

A review of the UG day

Well, what a day.  First of all,
there are many people that I just can’t thank enough for their help and
time.  Ed,
Bill,
Sean Murphy, Any Parr for speaking.  RIM for sponsoring the event
and giving me the freebies to hand out.  Also IBM and TeamStudio for
giving me some merchandise to be snapped up at the back of the room.  In
addition, Declan (for taking the photos), "fat boy" for helping
me shift everything and a taxi driver I "know" for collecting
Bill and ferrying him to the event from the airport in time.

At one point, there were 82 people in
the room.  Even though I received all the registrations, I honestly
was not expecting more then sixty.  It was a fantastic turnout.  The
event began on time and Ed kicked off with a strategy presentation that
helped clarify IBM’s roadmap for all watchers.  After this, Sean came
on to demonstrate the Department of Justice’s usage of Domino in their
environment.  Any Parr to discuss Blackberry and the next releases
was then next.  At this stage, the event was running behind, and we
were conscious that it was a Friday evening and most of the attendees did
not want to stay too late.  So, Bill and I cut down our ND7 presentation
drastically to make some time.   This didn’t bother me too much as
Bluewave is running the ND7 "live" launch in a few weeks which
will go into far more detail.  Then onto the bar…..

Irish Lotus User Group day today

In the Davenport hotel now.  Ed
is upstairs being interviewed by the press and I am trying to be patient
with a misbehaving beta server.  Oh, and by the way, I claimed the
Plaze here about 10 minutes before Ed came in .

Should be a good day, and night.

An ND7 Wish fullfilled!

A few months back, I
posted a little wish of mine to have connection documents fitted with pick-lists
for server names.
….   Well
guess what folks.  Load up your ND7 server and directory and its there…
Go on, take a look!

How do I make sure that each server in a cluster has identical replicas

One of the most common issues I come across on sites is that clusters don’t
always have replicas of all the databases.  For example, your mail
file is on server A but not on its cluster, Server B.  Previous to
Notes6, if you registered a person and created a mail file, you had to
manually place a replica of the file onto the other server.  New registration
options and even the registration settings document in ND6 have helped
greatly, giving the administrator the option to create the replica when
registering the user.

But the standing issue still remains, how can I check that each cluster
member has all the replicas it needs?  Well, there are numerous ways,
including scripting and tools on the sandbox site.  But a simple check
on a two-way cluster is to run the Decommission Server Analysis tool.

You will find the DSA tool in the
admin client, under SERVER/ANALYSIS tab.  Go to the TOOLS PANEL on
the right and click on "Decommission Server"

A picture named M2
The DSA tool is a part of the administration client and is often forgotten.
Its primary purpose is to analyse a server you are about to decommission
and compare it to its replacement.  It will tell you what connections,
certificates, configurations, access controls that are different on each
server, to assist in a smooth decommissioning process.
It also checks replicas.
By running the DSA tool the output report will list non-matching replicas
between the servers.  Give it a go or

Geekdinner seats

I am proposing a geekdinner on 26th
after the ILUG event.  About 7.30pm somewhere central (possibly even
the same hotel as the event).  As usual, its a "pay for yourself"
affair.  So, if you are going to be around, drop me a line or post
a comment and let me know if you are game….

Happy Birthday Ed!

To the "non" Microsoft Ranger, Ed.  Many happy ones…
I am sure there will be a few pints flowing in your direction in the US
next week and over here later this month..
