Blackberry curve

A picture named M2Since
the "loss" of my 8800 I have been working and playing with the
new Blackberry 8300 "curve" model.  One full week of working
with it and now I have good grounds to write a few bits….

First of all, the feel of the curve
is solid.  The build quality is far better then the 88 or even the
pearl.  It is heavier (most likely caused by the 2MP camera built
in and has a "treo"ish feel to it.  The keyboard is much
better then the 8800, and the style is nice (instead of the straight black).
It is still small enough to go in a shirt pocket, but it is a bit bulky
by pearl standards.  Although I was never used to a small phone/pda,
the Pearl has set the size standard for me and others.  I, however
would gladly give up the Pearl for a QWERTY keyboard.

Aimed more at the consumer market,
it sacrificed the built in GPS for the camera, and has extended multimedia
software/options.  The software build is solid, and the bluetooth
capability is far stronger then the pearl.  Personally, I miss the
GPS, as I have little need for a camera in my phone. Battery life is (as
ever) outstanding and I have only charged it twice (even though it is used
in anger).   I was not expecting to like it too much, but as an all
round unit, its now my favorite blackberry.  At least until the Pearl2
comes on the market.

Of course, now I am a Mac owner, I have
been starting to play with
Pocket
Mac Sync Manager.
 I wonder
if I should try getting a .Mac account now?

    No, you should not.

Yeah, what he said. Avoid .Mac like the plague (or like MS Exchange). Lots of money, minimal value.

I did notice that. 99Euro per annum for what? I don’t need to publish content to a site through .Mac, nor do I need to share files (I used the free Foldershare). I think I will be steering clear.

I agree with everyone above. Avoid it like Ebola. Or Paris Hilton. You decide.
