ILUG 2008 – call for abstracts

Well, now that Lotusphere 2008 is in
the past, the turrets get set on
ILUG2008.
Our first meeting of the year was last night (we are careful what
we say in front of Duffbert these days) but decisions were made and registration
will be opening soon.  But first things first, if you want to speak
at ILUG 2008, now is the time to tell us.  There is an email address
to use:

speakers@ilug2008.org

Send me an abstract for a session you
would like to present.  The only condition we have is that it is reasonably
funky…. We try to keep clear of strategic sessions as much as possible.
If you have an idea for a cool session, jot it down and send it to
us asap!.  Remember

1.  Suits on speakers is just wrong
at ILUG

2.  This is a user group – informality
is the key

3.  Bad language is welcomed, and
sometimes encouraged ;)

4. Session length is an  hour.

We will be doing speedgeeking, but not
working on that just yet.

Here is an example of one of my abstracts
for Lotusphere.

AdminBlast… Over 60 tips in 60
minutes.

Bring coffee to this session as Paul
Mooney brings you though over 60 administration tips aimed at improving
the domino server environment for all the administrators.  This brain
dump of configuration features, notes.ini parameters and recommendations
covers almost every aspect of Domino servers, and you are guaranteed to
pick up something new.

On screen keyboard for Windows

I have been asked by a few people about
tools I used while presenting at Lotusphere.  Well, obviously I use
my Mac, but had many VM’s of different types depending on the presentation.
But, when using a Mac, certain keystrokes (e.g. CTRL, SHIFT, ALT)
can sometimes be tricky.  So, use the On Screen Keyboard.  I
found it a few years ago, but Bill reminded me of it in a post of his recently.

Click on Start, Run and type in OSK.
 And there you go….

Update to the Get Errors Database

At the start of the year, Julian,
Bill
and I released the first version
of the

Get Errors database
.  This
has stemmed a lot of interest.
Thomas
Bahn
has improved on this version,
and posted a V1.1 model, which includes multi language support.  Excellent
work Thomas!.  I have posted it on my
resources
page
aswell.

Version 1.5 is being worked on, which
will include an even easier interface.

The Lotusphere bug

This year, I really, really thought
that I was lucky enough to get home in good shape post Lotusphere.  Not
to look like I had the plague or some such for a change.  That changed
on Sunday night.  And I’m only out of bed now….  Bloody typical.

Devin Olson is the devil

Just for the record….

Funniest moment at sphere was going
on the hulk beside
Devin
Olson
.  As some of you may
be aware, I am not the best on these things (read: screams like a baby
girl) and Devin sat beside me, for the ride, with his hat on, staring at
me screaming "I am the devil… I am the devil".

Reminds me of this
moment.
