ILUG 2008 – call for abstracts

Well, now that Lotusphere 2008 is in
the past, the turrets get set on
ILUG2008.
Our first meeting of the year was last night (we are careful what
we say in front of Duffbert these days) but decisions were made and registration
will be opening soon.  But first things first, if you want to speak
at ILUG 2008, now is the time to tell us.  There is an email address
to use:

speakers@ilug2008.org

Send me an abstract for a session you
would like to present.  The only condition we have is that it is reasonably
funky…. We try to keep clear of strategic sessions as much as possible.
If you have an idea for a cool session, jot it down and send it to
us asap!.  Remember

1.  Suits on speakers is just wrong
at ILUG

2.  This is a user group – informality
is the key

3.  Bad language is welcomed, and
sometimes encouraged ;)

4. Session length is an  hour.

We will be doing speedgeeking, but not
working on that just yet.

Here is an example of one of my abstracts
for Lotusphere.

AdminBlast… Over 60 tips in 60
minutes.

Bring coffee to this session as Paul
Mooney brings you though over 60 administration tips aimed at improving
the domino server environment for all the administrators.  This brain
dump of configuration features, notes.ini parameters and recommendations
covers almost every aspect of Domino servers, and you are guaranteed to
pick up something new.

Obviously except when directed at Developers? Emoticon

I think you need to either “brings” to “takes” or “through” to “off”. I’d go with the former, but whatever floats your boat.

I’d really, really, really like to make it this year, but my son is graduating from high school that week. Sigh!

Can’t we keep it developer free this year – they only lower the tone Emoticon

Hell, I was planning on doing a session au naturel!

@11… I’m hoping that “planning” and “doing” are two different things.

I was going to put myself forward for an hour of jocularity and jolly Domino related japes delivered in broad Ulster Scots. However given the cosmopolitan nature of ILUG I fear the subtle nuances of “the mither tang” would be lost on all you heathens so I will continue to develop JavaSlabber(tm) in my dingy garret for another year.

I think however that the post ILUG events should be changed to a “fringe” … Well Edinburgh has it’s “fringe” why not ILUG? I was thinking perhaps I-GLUG 2008 – ILUGs naughty cousin … sponsored by Guinness Smithwicks, Bushmills and the Temple Bar Temperance and Chastity Society… a time for relaxing, Admin vs Developer Mud Wrestling and generally talking s**t.

Dates, times, location and ambulance support to be arranged. Emoticon

@14 Kerr – OK mud wrestling is not your cup of tea..hmmmmm..lets see Adm vs Dev

yards of ale would that be more civilised?

@15, Now that’s more like it! It’s been some time since I’ve been competitive, but I’m sure I can reinstigate a solid training regime Emoticon
