So true…. sometimes those left standing are more unfortunate.
I remember our HR person at the Portland Enron office. Wonderful person, and slowly killing off all the Portland positions was killing her. The final September 2001 closure wasn’t even the complete end, as a skeleton crew had to be around to finalize stuff. By the time she and the rest of her staff could leave, Enron had declared bankruptcy, and all the severance packages were non-existent…

My favourite story I heard this week. Someone who has been RA’d at IBM was asked if they would contract for 60-90 days after their terminicationso that they can train their replacements, yep IBM is getting rid of one senior experienced staff member to replace them with two junior staff members. Way to manage my investment IBM.
