Bill – the FXX they used belongs to Michael Schumacher (only plain black one in the world) so doubt he would let someone else drive it, I know I wouldn’t
It was a fantastic interview as well, highlight for me “Have you ever done anything in competition you’ve regretted” (or something similar).
James May was on 3 of the best programmes I’ve seen for a long time last night. Top Gear, then a programme about the Moon and then a programme about making the high altitude flight on the programme about the moon. I thought I was jealous of Clarkson when he got to have a hurl (literally) in an F-16 (was it??) but James May going up in a U2 to the edge of space was just sublime. James May who is normally such a laid back quiet sort of guy just couldn’t shut up.
If it’s repeated (and it’s the BBC so it’s bound to be) don’t miss it.

I was howling with laughter when he appeared.
I suspect he’s the only person allowed to drive that million-quid ferrari outside the test track.. And god – SEVEN seconds faster ? Wow!
