New version released with the ability to cache the password in an encrypted format. No more entering the password every time you receive an encrypted message.
Tomorrow, I start heading to Las Vegas again, but this time for an IBM/Lotus tech conference. I missed last year’s Admin event in Boston, and am looking forward to meeting the organisers and delegates again. Time time around, I will present four sessions.
I’m sure I will see some of the PacLUG attendees lurking around too! The Admin conference is much more technical than Lotusphere, and has very little to do with marketing. As much as I am not looking forward to the commute, I know it will be great.
From my inbox. Made me laugh out loud.
Working the google project is like a grunt who is surrounded by the enemy, his head filled with cinematic images of Rambo and Chuck Norris and others who have blasted their way out of such situations, when, in reality, he’s about to become a fucking colander.
Lotus Traveler 8.5.3 (still in beta.. may not be in the final yada yada yada) plugs a big gap in device security. Previous to 8.5.3, when you grant a user access to traveler, that person can join as many devices as they wish. With 8.5.3, you have the ability to force approval by administrators before data will sync. This is set in the Lotustraveler.nsf database.
In this case, I have set the threshold to 0. This means that every device will require approval by the administrator. After joining and installing the profile/application, the administrator will receive an approval email.

From the lotustraveler.nsf database, the admin can then approve or deny the device. Simples!
When – Thursday 17 16th June, 5.30pm.
Where- Upstairs in the Chandos, Trafalgar Square.
All welcome. Bill will be there from 5.01pm.
This week a quick (2 wheel) trip to Dublin to customer sites, followed by a few days in London for the Teamstudio traveler workshop. I have a few Traveler tips to blog in the very near future.
Also, if you do attend the event – we have decided to run it on Traveler 8.5.3 (still in beta). Then, Lotusbeers. Where? Well, ask Bill Buchan as he promised to let me know!
Since everyone is fighting for credit for the 8.5.3 feature releases (now in beta), I thought I would just mention that I already have approval for the new 8.5.4 startup screen.
Thanks to Steve McDonagh for the mockup.
Next week, on the 16th June, the London “Mobile war and Peace” workshop will be held by Teamstudio in the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane (I have been reliably informed it is very near sold-out, so if you fancy going.. you best book soon). If you are about that evening, or in the vicinity and fancy meeting up for Lotusbeer, just post a comment here. I shall leave it to Mr Buchan to pick a venue. Let’s say 7pm?
