This week, Washington DC and Cleveland

Returning home from Rome last night in time to unpack, repack and set off this morning.  Tomorrow I will be presenting the Teamstudio Traveler workshop in Alexandria, VA.  Straight afterwards. heading to Cleveland OH to work with a customer.

So the clock will begin when I leave my house in Belfast.  Nearest guess on my travel time to the Lorien hotel in Alexandria wins a prize!

This week. London and Rome

Heading to London at stupid o’clock to work on a new project tomorrow morning.  Fly home Wednesday night, unpack, repack and head to Dublin Thursday morning to fly to Rome for a few days.  It will be my first time to Rome, so looking forward to seeing the city everyone talks about.

Even the blackberry faithful are abandoning RIM

The BlackBerry may not be dead, but it’s dying. New research from Enterprise Management Associates says that 30 percent of BlackBerry users in companies with more than 10,000 users will move to a different mobile platform in the next year. That would move Research in Motion’s standing in large enterprise into that of a minority OS. Today, 52 percent of users in such organizations “actively” use a BlackBerry for work purposes, EMA reports; a 30 percent reduction would bring that total to 36 percent.

Thoughts from the Leadership Alliance Conference

aka LoLA

The LAC was held under a shroud of “agreement” last week.  There were no threats on non-disclosure, just a simple request that we were courteous enough to  not reveal anything that we were asked not to, and if not asked to, simply to apply common sense.  It is a credit to everyone at the event that the only revelations posted were fake (and quite funny).  However, without giving away any state secrets I can give my thoughts on the vibe.

Yes, the word “social” was said a lot.  Yes, it was cloudy.  But as opposed to the OGS at Lotusphere (you all remember the panels, don’t you…) this time they attempted to validate and provide substance to the direction, offering reason, structure and proposed plans for the future.  They will have a lot to talk about, and demo at Lotusphere.

Oh, one big reveal.  The next Lotusphere OGS will have learned from the last.
