Doubled the memory in my MBP. Over a year old and the combination of SSD and memory leaves most desktops for dust. Running multiple servers (including connections) in vms concurrently.

Paul, I’d concur, 16 GB and SSD on the new MBP:TNG make for a very pleasant VMware Fusion experience.
I’ve also found that running the VMs from my USB 3.0-connected Lenovo drive isn’t too shabby either, even when doing heavy disk I/O.
