Server on ND7.02 now!

QuickImage Category

Managed to download and install the ND7.02 software this evening.  The upgrade process was a breeze, as you would expect.  Only issue was the domino server was removed from the services panel.  In order to return the Lotus Domino Server entry in the services listing, I just had to follow the old fashioned method.
1. Open a DOS prompt
2. Go to the x:\lotus\domino directory
3. Type in "NTSVINST -C" and press return

Then its back.  Just set it to automatic.  Aside from that I did get an error on my mail file "Cache entry not found" when trying to access my server mail.  That was caused by me using a *cough* slightly "newer/not even beta yet" version then ND7.02 as my design template.  So I cannot really throw stones at the upgrade for that now can I?

Comments

1 - - I did notice the same: the service was there on the server, but set to 'manual' instead of 'automatic' as it had been before the upgrade.
I got the error "Cache entry not found" on several mail files (R7 design) when I moved them from one server to another. Also noticed the schedule - and rooms and resources task, have stopped unexpectedly several times deleting clubusy.nsf.

2 - My service went AWOL on me as well on one of three servers. This was the only issue I had though

3 - I saw that same issue on 7.01. Did you by any chance run setup without pulling up "Custom" mode? In 7.01, re-running setup in Custom mode put the service back - as, of course, does ntsvinst, which is a bit of a blast from the past (remember when that was the only way to get Domino running as a service? Of course you do, you're wicked old...)...

4 - I didn't have that problem, but I did notice a couple of little issues with the upgrade:
a) the service was there on the server, but set to 'manual' instead of 'automatic' as it had been before the upgrade
b) the client upgrade removed the 'Internet Mail Address' (ImailAddress) field from my location document (why?!)

Apart from that, as smooth as proverbial silk...

5 - I believe the setup routine re-installs the service, it does each time.

If you have the services dialog open, it may just lock the files so it can't reinstall successfully?

Certainly nothing appeared abnormal here, unless I've just gone mad...which is entirely possible.

6 - Only one 7.0.2 server so far, plenty of time to verify; but some would say I was mad long before the 7.0.2 release ;O)

7 - Services panel was not open, so yup... think you have gone mad!
