The big announcement

This is the third year of the ILUG event (yes I can see Bill snickering.."third").  This year, it has taken a huge leap.  As you know, it is a 2-day event in May 24th/25th in Dublin.  But this time, we are much more organised.  This, is TOTALLY due to the huge efforts put in by Bill, Duff, Warren, Kitty and Eileen.   Keep in mind, we do this in our own time,  and they deserve much credit for going the extra mile and also running one of the longest skype chats in history .

 So here are some of the announcements:

First  the site, www.ilug2007.org is a one stop shop for all conference information and where you register for the event.  I would ask that anyone that has emailed to register, just to go up on the site and register again, so we catch all the details.  

Secondly, the speakers... look at the speaker list guys.  You are talking "best in business" speakers, at an event for FREE.  

Thirdly, the involvement from IBM in this event has been outstanding.  Mary Beth Raven, the person writing the new Notes 8 client will be there presenting and demonstrating the product..  This will be very shortly before the release on the market.  So, you will see it as close to finished as it gets.  Alan Lepofsky will be giving the keynote.  My sincere thanks and promise of a few beers goes out to all speakers.  

Fourth, IBM will have a lab presence at this event.. you will get to play with :

and any other cool gadgets that IBM bring to bear.  They want your feedback, give it to them.  IBM Ireland is playing a huge role in this (QuickR to my knowledge is coded mostly here) and the lab staff know their stuff.

Fifth - sponsors will be giving away prizes at the end of the second day for anyone that gives them a business card.   My old "dictatorship" rule applies.  If you don't stay about for the draw, you don't win.  If you are interested in sponsoring, there are still slots yet - details are here.  This page will move to the ILUG site very soon.

Sixth - Geekdinner.  Methinks this will be big, is planned for the Friday night.  Details will be forthcoming.  As ever its a pay for yourselves gig.

This promises to be a great event.  Register, and tell other people.  We anticipate that it will sell out, (em.. how does a free event sell out...) but at some point, we will have to turn people away.  The site holds information on hotels, so book your flights, hotels and register.   I would urge you do it quick!

Looking forward to seeing you all there in May.  The organisers will be the tired looking bunch at the back.  PS - thanks to Rocky for the smaller logo!

1 - I missed out on Lotusphere this year, but I think this may just be is the next best thing to Lotusphere. I am officially impressed.

This looks like it's going to be one heck of a user group event!
