Competition is driving while looking in the rear view mirror, trying to keep up with the innovative search and knowledge management features from Lotus.

Widget pallette plugin...
There is a widget wizard for users - ANY user can create a widget which can pull from various sites, including Google gadget, and immediately drag to the sidebar. After creating widgets - a user can mail it to another user. This provides functionality, but administrators can use policies to restrict this if needed.
Additionally, text can be associated with a widget, allowing for information relevant to a particular piece of text to be displayed in a plug in, whenever it is clicked.
Domino Web Access have released the newer "lite" version which is now even lighter

8.5. far easier ID file management - integrated into the credential vault...
The Domino directory will be opened up, so you will be able to use other directories (i.e Domino users managed in the Active directory...no two directories to manage).
Lotus Protector (Lotus now make Hardware!).... After the acquisition of ISS, Lotus now are offering HARDWARE/Appliance security for domino servers (spam/AV scanning unit for Domino)
Domino Designer 8.5 will allow you to easily re-skin existing applications. Designer will be based on expeditor / eclipse - to be released with 8.5.

Over 400,000 downloads of Symphony.
Symphony is using Open Source, Open Standards and Open distribution, freeing your data from proprietary formats by supporting ODF format. Beta4 will be available in February 2008, that will open the product to the developers. Symphony will be an open application, available to be integrated with Notes, or other products.

Lotus Foundations..... New line of software servers, integrated solutions including lotus tools, directory tools, symphony. This ties into the Nitix production suite acquisition by IBM.
Foundations server will fit in an envelope and go from plug in - to operational... in 30 minutes.
Project Blue House - software service model aimed at "real" SMB's - ie approx 500 users or less. The interface looks incredibly simple, offering users to get up and running in a matter of minutes. File sharing, online meetings , productivity suites... It looks powerful. Managed beta starts TODAY so its available to download.
