Gravatar Image2 - Mr. Weber - your fight is too broad, as it would cover things like "Your outlook sucks regarding the future of Notes", or "I hate going to class - taking notes sucks."

Mr. Mooney has it right. surPRISE!

Gravatar Image3 - Craig, nobody says "Lotus Notes" or "Microsoft Outlook". That is vendor talk. Users refer to their stuff with one word names, especially the sucky stuff.

Also my results were totally different to yours.

Gravatar Image5 - Note that the fine print says this is not affiliated with Google, and the numbers are indeed completely bogus. The search Paul did to start this off gives wildly different results now that when he took the screenshots. Carl's example yields 1 result for "Lotus Notes sucks" whereas Google finds 2,980.

Move on, nothing to see here...

Gravatar Image6 - Lotus sucks can be also a positive term.

Using 20 different search phrases in Google, both positive and negative ones, revealed the following statistics:

_____________IBM____Microsoft_
negative:_____98%_________58%_
positive:_______2%_________42%_

total hits:__93,748_____303,971__

Not sure if this is representing emotions from end-users, it-professionals or my search history that Google is tracking (see: { Link }

Gravatar Image8 - @6 Agreed. Understanding the etymology of 'sucks', I never understood why it's a bad thing. Emoticon

Gravatar Image9 - Paul,

Isn't this merely a reflection of marketshare ? Emoticon
