A new Lotus Notes workspace?

Category

This is just a test/suggestion, based on this post by Andrew Pollack, which was linked to by vowe.  But what I have done here is simply create aliases to local replica databases in Finder (in windowsville you would just create shortcuts) and placed them on my dock.  Of course my limitation here is that I cannot use server based icons (although with some messing around with database links, I'm pretty sure I could).  There would be issues in making this a part of the product, including management and deployment, but a combination of windows policies/icon deployment and some reworking of the client could make this possible.   What do you think of it?  A good idea as an option?
And yes, I'm still on leave - very sad that I even did this, I agree.

Update: Volker just reminded me that notes:// url links would do the trick for the server db's aswell, so that is an option for the server apps.

1 - Does Mac support NDL files?

2 - @1 Good question. I'd guess they would just because Notes registers them as part of the install process. Wouldn't the same happen for a Mac? Don't have one so i can't test. I agree, ndl's are very easy to work with.

3 - Yep - Notes on Mac supports NDL files. Just as a point.. em thats not the point.
Consider the concept of the notes environment provisioning links directly to the OS... The more I think about this, the more I think a simple 3rd Party app would do the trick (with ndl files or { Link } url links). If you could control these, and have SSO working with the OS platform correctly, this "might" be a good idea.
