iNotes Ultralite - IBM screenshots of newer version

Category

IBM was good enough to come back to me with screenshots of the new version of the iNotes ultralite template.  This is not a version available on public beta but will be out with 8.02 and 8.5.   Looks like it has continued to improve.

1 - First I wanted one but then decided to stick with the blackberry......now I want one again. What to do, what to do?

2 - Just wait for a while - I (and many others) will have more to write about iPhone and what is good and bad about it... my next post may put you off!

3 - nice login screen, hopefully it will work across other web based apps on the iPhone.

The new screens are starting to look nice.

4 - Between the hype surrounding the app store launch and the tired moanings from parts of the online community around the current lack of native Domino support, it is easy to forget just how great looking and usable a web based solution for mobile Safari can be.

I particularly like how they have stuck to Apple's iPhone human interface guidelines, yet still created a styling that really synergies' with the Notes 8 client mail experience.

Good stuff.

5 - @4 - I agree fully on the look/feel but we have to wait and see how well it works in production. I'm looking forward to testing it in anger. Aside from that, its not native integration, which is what people will want.

6 - Looks VERY cool!
@Declan - I had it working somewhat on a Palm TX with the 8.5 Beta. Hopefully the functionality will be there completely in the final release!

7 - Pat Duffy! Wasn't he Bobby Ewing?
You're so old school.

8 - I take full responsibility for Pat Duffy. He/She is a usability "persona" that we use... specifically because, at least in English, "pat Duffy" could be a man or woman, so any of our volnuteers could easily imagine themselves as Pat :)

P.S. And yes, we watched Saturday night live and picked "Pat" on purpose!

9 - Suh-Weeeet!

I'm really impressed by how "tidy" it looks. I had definately expected more 'clutter' and strange buttons here and there.

Great work from the iNotes team!

Still want it to be a true app with push capabilities, though. Emoticon

10 - No valid email address - blocked

11 - Very nice. Thank you for sharing Paul.

12 - Paul,

Very cool indeed !!!

Thanks for sharing, it's super-important, especially in Israel.. Emoticon

13 - @MaryBeth i see that the calendar items have the color codes on the left, has anyone thought about doing the same thing to emails entries like we can in the Notes Client?Emoticon

14 - Good stuff Paul thanks. Certainly is improved from the last views I'd seen.

The Lotus Notes menu in image3 makes this really look more like an application resident on the phone than a web service type of deal.

Curious - how does one initiate the connection to the server? Safari or icon click?

15 - @14 - either - you can bookmark websites to an icon on the iPhone.. I already do that all the time (its very simple to do)

16 - The greenhouse.lotus.com site is currently running a 6/15 build if you want to look at that version of DWA ulite.

Log in, choose the DWA lite link from the side, then when opened mod the URL and put ui=dwa_ulite instead of dwa_lite

{ Link }

17 - Can I create meeting in the gold version ?
If not, it's a bad news

18 - I believe you can.... just have not done it myself

19 - @15 - Thanks Paul.

Methinks I might have to try this on the wife's iTouch when it's available.

20 - It does look great, but since it is a web site, and is not an "application", how will the contacts be synchronized? Plus, I don't want to wait for a website to come up to dial a friend from my Notes website based contact list (assuming you can dial direct from the contact page).
Good work, but I wonder how usable this will be, compared to a native client.

I would be happy with improved IMAP4 support that would sync my contacts and calendar with native Apple apps. I can't seem to get it (IMAP with Calendar and Contacts) to work, and I assume this is an Apple problem.

Thanks for the early view!!!!

21 - FYI,
I just looked up the RFC for the IMAP4 protocal, and I don't see where it explicitly supports Calendars and Contacts. Where did I dream this up? I thought the Outlook Client could use IMAP4 (or something) to sync mail and calender with yahoo, etc.

22 - where to download inotes mobile client???? please reply meEmoticon

23 - Yash - it is part of the new beta mail template with 802 or 8.5 in domino. You can download from the public beta site.
