notes 802 standard will be able to support 40 clients on citrix

Category
Again, worth a post in itself.  Using PAE on citrix (i.e. doubling the RAM to 8GB) and specific documentation, you can run 40 notes standard clients on a citrix box.  Documentation on how to do this is on the way, and it will be made easier in next versions of the client code.

1 - This is good news.

The limited amount of users pr citrix server has been a showstopper for the most of our customers.

Looking forward to see any documentation on this, as I've not found any good information on this as of yet.

2 - Hi Paul, you mentioned at the GSX seminar that you would lock yourself in together with some Citrix guys in order to write some whitepaper on Notes on Citrix. Do you have any idea when this will be? We are eager to see the result.

3 - 100 Notes 5 users concurrently running on a citrix box? I never put that many in production.

More recently with Notes 6.x I have had up to 60 on one box, but many sites average out production limits at 40. Im not saying this is good or bad compared to Notes 5 (of course its going to be heavier) but its a hell of a lot better then 13 with 801

4 - I have about 60 - 70 Notes 7.0.2 users on each Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services box (no Citrix). Until I can get that many on R8, it's a showstopper. At least for Standard. That customer will likely move forward with a mix of Basic (most users) and Standard (management types). It makes development more exciting.

5 - This doesn't sound very impressive at all Paul. You used to be able to put 100 Notes 5 users on a very basic Citrix box a few years back. To me, this is evidence that Notes 8 client is just too big for its own good.

Perhaps a cut-down version of the client specifically for Citrix could be made available by IBM?

7 - I have 5 Citrix servers that have Notes 8.0.2. They're working fine except that I am having a lot of trouble copying user configurations down from a file server. Names.nsf continually becomes truncated. When that happens, Notes will not open at all.

For those of you with multiple servers, how do you give your users a consistent user experience across the servers?

I've consistently been able to get 40 users per Citrix server with about 20 of those being Notes users.

8 - I think the biggest hint is the doubling of the RAM that is required to get them up to 40 clients per server - 8 GB? So you need of course the latest version of 64 bit Citrix... buying more memory might be a showstopper for us - especially in this economy....

9 - Would like to see documentation on this as well. We have over 5,000 users on Citrix, os a big concern for us to not have to buy any more servers, the CIO would not want to go there.

Is there a specific hardware?
