Going beyond the normal paradigms of desktop software computing

Lotus have lead the way in enterprise social networking software

When INotes Ultralite was submitted to Apple applications, IBM had 50,000 referrals to their site in two hours
Citrix
702 - 37 users on a citrix blade
801 - 13 users on a citrix blade
802 - 26 users on a citrix blade
Configuration available for 802 that will allow 40 users (this is using PAE and doubling RAM). This configuration documentation has not been released yet. Configuration of this will be made simpler in next versions of Lotus Notes client software
Lotus Foundations
Review of announcements and releases
email/print sharing/vpn/firewall/backup/anti virus/anti spam all in one box. This is the start model. Rumours of collaborative setups on the way (i.e. linking foundations servers) mentioned yesterday.
Lotus Hosted services
IBM hosted mail service announced 10 days ago - cloud based Notes service. Will also give accurate cost per user of services.
You can resuse existing licenses
Prices will range from $8 to $18 per user per month sold annually depending on software and service selections.

Composite applications and project Atlantic discussed
What's coming next in 8.5 and beyond
"Manage my day.. manage my stuff"
xPages in the client mentioned (not just browser). The merging of rich client and web client.
DAOS - restructure your disk costs and save on expensive disks
ID Management - ID Vault and directory independence mentioned. Self service id management.
Notes 8.5 is considered the highest quality build ever released. Over 100 nsf/stability defects have been resolved. 7200 separate points addressed in this build.
Over all 40-60% disk savings
50-65% disk IO reduction
35% CPU reduction in 8.5
The old Microsoft Application Analyser was mentioned...(har har)
